Welcome Back Bill and Kathy McGuinness!
Pastor Don is away on vacation for two weeks (starting Tuesday, July 15). Today we are enjoying having back with us, Bill McGuinness filling the pulpit. He is one of our former interim pastors. It is wonderful to see Bill and Kathy here for a visit! We hope they will have a wonderful time being “tourists”! Next Sunday July 27, please welcome Tansy Chapman who will be preaching. Pastor Don will return August 3.

Children’s Ministry
The children’s lessons for the next few Sundays will focus on OBEDIENCE. The lesson today is: Take God at His Word. The Bible verse today is: Luke 11:28, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it”. Please continue to pray for the children you see coming forward on Sundays and the families they represent.

Vacation Bible School: “Son Harvest County Fair” will be the Theme here at MPC
We invite all the children to join us at the SON HARVEST COUNTY FAIR Vacation Bible School here in Preston Hall at Mendocino Presbyterian Church, August 11 – 15 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.  The children will sing songs and have Bible stories, skits, crafts and snacks. They will be learning about the Fruits of the Spirit, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience and Kindness. Children of Pre-Kindergarten through those entering 6th Grade are welcome to attend. Please call the church office to register or for more information. 937-5441

HOW CAN I HELP WITH VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL?
·         Pray for children to attend and volunteers for the teaching.
·         Collect 12 – ½ liter green plastic bottles for “watermelon bowling”-Sprite, 7-Up, Mountain Dew, etc. Bring to church or call Lois Leister to pick up.
·         Collect 40 empty 12 ounce plastic water bottles with caps, 160 1-inch wooden spools, pink felt, and pink chenille wires….for PIGGY BANKS of course.
·         Call the office and say that you will help bring the ingredients for snacks (we will let you know exactly what to bring).
·         Tell your neighbors, friends, coworkers, acquaintances about the program and invite them to bring their children.
·         Call the office or Lois and say you want to be a helper – we have a great looking schedule and we will tell you what to do!
·         Oh yeah, did we mention PRAY?

ATTENTION: SUNDAY AUGUST 3 CHANGE OF TIME OF SERVICE!
We are going to have a ONE-SERVICE - ALL CHURCH SUNDAY Service at 10:00 A.M. only, on Sunday August 3rd. That’s right. There will be no 8:30 service on that day, and no 11:00 service that day. There will be ONLY ONE service which will be at 10:00. This will be the first Sunday of the August, so it is Communion Sunday and also Soup Sunday. Soup will be served as usual after the service. Come and meet each other at this summer worship, Sunday, August 3. at 10:00 A.M.

Well Deserved Thank You
Thank you to the sound crew and CD Recording “artists” – Don Abels, Jerry Westfall, Gail Diamond, and Scott Anderson for a great job on the sound and the CD recordings of the Sunday services!

Summer Choir News
Come join the Summer Singers! It is a short-term commitment in a not-so-formal choir. You will not be expected to sing every Sunday, we do not wear choir robes and we will not sit in the choir loft. .  Meet in the choir room at 10 am on Sunday morning and learn a piece of music for that Sunday.  Come join us! Call Patricia Lacey, 937-2592 if you have any questions.

Please Stop by Our Library After Church
Our Church Librarians are on duty after the 11:00 service (unless a meeting is going on), so please stop by, check out a book, a video or a copy of a service! We have wonderful things here!

Be a Sunday Morning Greeter!
Call the church office to sign up for a Sunday or two to be a greeter during the year. It’s fun!

Recordings of Sunday Services Available – Check the drawer in the Library
CDs of past services are available – honor system - in a designated drawer in the Library. There are large envelops marked with the date and sermon title for each week. If there is an envelop of CDs you want, with no recordings left in the envelop, or if you would like today’s service, fill in a lavender request form and leave it in the drawer or give it to Evelyn. Don’t know where “the designated drawer” is? Look for the sign in RED LETTERS on the drawer at the west end of the Library (toward the church).

Vacation Bible School at Fort Bragg First Presbyterian
1st Presbyterian Church VBS Fort Bragg starts July 28th and runs through August 1st. The theme
is “Power Lab, Discovering Jesus Miraculous Power”. It sounds fun and the children will learn a lot. Call FB Presbyterian Church 964-2316 for more information or to register your children for this intriguing week of Bible study.

Deacons Parish Dinner: PLEASE REMEMBER TO CALL THE OFFICE TO RSVP!
A Deacons Dinner will be held on August 2, at 6:00 PM in Preston Hall. The Deacons are calling the event “Café Delizioso!” and the Italian themed dinner promises to be fun as well as delicious. Come and get acquainted with your Deacon and others in your parish, along with the rest of the congregation. Please call the church office to RSVP by July 29. 937-5441.
